I brought in this pattern because it promises to be wide enough to get behind hips while still leaving the back open so its not too hot and it doesn't flap against the back of your legs when you're moving around. Also, that wider area at the hips I figured would be good for those of us who like to wipe off our mucky hands in the kitchen or in the studio, or both.
Julie, on the right in the photo of my entertaining friends, sewed a couple of these aprons with dyed yarn cotton and chambray shot cotton (look in Fabrics in the menu at the top). She did make the pockets larger and moved them to the sides, and added a little decorative detail to them, so you won't find those changes in the pattern.
