Susan Bates hoop-la embroidery hoops have an exclusive 'super-grip-lip'. This is designed to maintain consistent tension without distorting or snagging your fabric or threads.
Note: I've used these and like them. The 'grip-lip' does seem to keep the fabric taut for longer than wood hoops, but you do need to follow the directions on the label for how to put the fabric in them. Its a bit different than other hoops.
