This kit is the perfect gift for anyone wants to learn sashiko stitching. It contains Jill Clay's new and beautiful book which covers everything you need to know to be able to transfer a sashiko design to fabric and sashiko stitch it. And because we all like to jump in to the stitching right away, I've included a 23 1/2" x 44" panel of ready to stitch sashiko fabric (choose navy or white), 100 meter skein of Olympus sashiko thread, a box of 6 Hiroshima Tulip sashiko needles (there are 2 each of 3 lengths) and a Japanese leather sashiko thimble. While reading the book and learning about sashiko, you can also thread your needle and start stitching immediately!
The printed lines will wash away after the stitching is completed, and there is enough fabric to hem and make a 20" x 42" runner. There will be enough thread left over to begin a project from the book.
The book is 8 1/2" x 11" , 135 pages. It contains 20 projects using traditional sashiko stitching, along with discussion of tools and techniques. The photographs are beautiful and inspiring. Suitable for beginners, this is also a nice addition to the library of anyone who loves sashiko stitching.
